Napping

Jerry looks so big.  I was really glad that he stayed on his sleeping schedule.  Napping in the morning and afternoon then bedtime around 7:30.

Trip to Holly

I took my first road trip alone with Jerry this last weekend to Holly. I was extremly nervous for the drive but overall he did good. He cried a total of about 45 minutes and we only stopped once for a stinky diaper change (hince part of the crying). Of course I left right before his nap time and he slept for a few hours.

It was my 10 year class reunion and it was fun seeing everyone but it was more fun seeing Jerry with the family. He has changed so much and is so active. Grandma and Grandpa got to babysit Jerry on Friday until about 1 am and Saturday night until about 9 pm. They both were exhausted but Jerry did good for them despite some crying, which Grandpa told me he could hear from outside the house. They told me that I have my hands full with this little boy. They just forget that they did it once too...younger even and with more rowdy kids:0)

Jerry had so much fun tearing up Grandma's house. He found her tupperware cabinet and had it emptyed all over the kitchen floor. He loved rolling the oranges around the entire house and had toys strung out everywhere. I unfortunatly did not get pictures of the house but I should have (Grandma might not have liked that).

This trip Jerry really liked Harley and got lots of kisses from him. He got to ride the lawn mower with Grandpa and loved it. He really liked being outside and got to play in the dirt for the first time and loved it. He loved playing with the rocks in the yard and kept wanting to eat them, which made it a pain for everyone since we had to keep and extra close eye on him. He got to play in the pretty green grass and wasn't too sure about that feeling on his feet. I laid him down in the grass and he wouldn't move and just started crying.

We planned on coming back home on Tuesday but I woke up not feeling good so we waiting until Wednesday. Again I was really nervous for the drive and waited until Jerry's nap time. He slept all the way to Greensburg and the cried for about 10 minutes until we stopped in Pratt and then he cried for about 20 minutes and slept the rest of the way. Surprisingly he did much better than I thought he would. Jerry was so happy when he saw his daddy. He smiled for a long time and only wanted him for awhile - it was cute.

Summer Time

The weather has been gorgeous this week ~ almost hot.  I thought it would be fun to get out with Jerry and take him to the park in our community but they don't have much that he can play on so instead we got pictures with a tree and the flowers in our front yard.  I can't wait until we can go to the pool.  We are going to take swimming lessons in June or July.  He loves water ~ so far only in the bath tub but I think he will like the pool:o)

Close Up

I have been trying so hard to get a video of Jerry making this funny face/noise. Everytime he sees me with the camera he goes after it. He was crawling all over me to get it but I finally got it on camera.

Walking

Jerry is getting really good at pushing his walker. He gets so mad when I put him in it. He is just all over the place now. Good exercise for mom:-)

Colorful Food

Jerry got blueberries for the first time this morning and loved them.

Update

So lately we have been slowly transitioning Jerry to sleep (only) in his bed. This little boy has to get on a schedule so we are allowing him two naps at around 10 am and 3 pm. And if he doesn't nap then he can't nap until his next nap time. Mean huh. So far though it is actually working, even if he has to cry it out. And I am getting better at letting him cry. His bedtime then is between 7:30-8:00. I can't wait until I can say that he sleeps through the night. For some reason he wakes up about every 2 hours. I think he reaches for me in his sleep and doesn't feel me so he wakes up. I will say that it is so much easier on me to have him on a schedule. Tonight I actually got to eat a hot dinner and take my time. Usually I eat cold meals and have to scarf them down while the boy is tugging at my leg or sitting on my lap.

The weather is supposed to be beautiful all week so I am going to try to get some good pictures of Jerry outside. I have been really bad about taking pictures. He is making some new noises but every time I try to video tape it he stops and just stares at me. We are going to start giving him finger foods...still no teeth yet so he just gets the mushy food ~ yum. Like all little kids he is growing really fast. He only has one pair of shoes that fit and I can't find any that I like to buy him that aren't so expensive. You would think with such little material a kids shoe would be cheaper, but no. He might be going bare foot all summer :-)

Showing Off

Jerry is quite the show off.  He loves to stand up and he has to crawl over everything, he can't go around it.  He keeps me busy.

On the Move

Jerry is always on the go.  He now prefers to push his walker and gets upset when I put him in it.  He was having a lot of fun pushing his little four wheeler around the basement.  We had to put the coffee table in the other room so he would have more room to wander.  The down side to this is, is that he has bumped his head a few times by falling over.  He's pretty tough though and has only cried a few times.  He is such a boy ~ he plays kinda rough, which is just like his Daddy.

Laundry

Jerry is fascinated with the laundry baskets.  He loves to tip them over and throw all of the clothes out.

Big Boy Toy

Daddy put Jerry on his four wheeler that he got from Grandma and Grandpa Kalma and he can sit up really well on it and slowly push himself.

Watching Daddy Work

Saturday was beautiful here so we tried to get some yard work done.  We took the jumper and his walker outside but Jerry just wasn't a happy camper so Mommy had to bring him inside and we watched Daddy work through the window.

New Chew Toy

Jerry loves to chew on celery and crunch it with his gums.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!!!

We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter.  It's a rainy Easter day in Wichita.  We went to church this morning at 9:30 and Jerry did really well up until about 10:00 and then he was getting tired and a little fussy.  So Daddy took him into the hall.

We are just going to hang out inside today since it's rainy and cold out.  I'm cooking a ham for the first time ~ hopefully it will turn out good.

I will get some pictures posted later today.

Update

Sorry for not having any updates lately. For some reason it's just been hard to do anything on the computer. Last Friday I had to work with Jake and Jerry went to the babysitter for the first time. He stayed with Kourtney (my Doula). I was very glad to hear that he did really well for her. He did cry some but I think he had a lot of fun with her and her kidos. Friday night we picked him up and drove to Holly. Jake dropped me and Jerry off at my mom and dads and then he drove to Colorado Springs with Oggie for a gun show. He didn't get to bed until 2:30 am. On Sunday Jake got back to Holly aroud 9 and we slept until 12:30 am and then got up and drove back to Wichita. We didn't get home until 6 am and slept for 1.5 hours then had to get up and go to work and Jerry went back to Kourtneys. Needless to say we were both glad when that day was over. Actually it took us the whole week before we really caught up on sleep.

Jerry ended up getting his first cold that weekend but was overall still in a good mood for Grandma and Grandpa. He still isn't completely over it but won't let it slow him down. He is now pulling himself up to stand in his crib, on furniture, and loves to stand up by the tub in our bathroom and put his mouth on the water knob. Cowley sits in the tub waiting for him to turn on the water for him to drink. He is climbing up steps. Yesterday he made it up 3 steps before Jake got him. He is also crawling now on all fours but still prefers to arm crawl.

Jerry just turned 8 months old and weighs 20.5 lbs, is 30 in long and his head measures 17.5 in. He is a growing boy.
