He's a Cutie

Jerry started to blow bubbles this week.  He woke up around 6 this morning and was laying in bed just blowing bubbles with his mouth.  It was so cute.

We're back online

So we took our computer in to have it diagnosed and it wasn't as bad as we thought.  Thank goodness.  And now we have it back home, it's healthy and we're back online.  I can't believe how much I missed having the internet and my music.  I was probably driving Jake nuts at the clinic since I had to go there and use his computer.

The biggest update on Jerry is eating new foods.  I know it seems like that is all I talk about or take pictures of but to me it's a BIG deal.  It's something so new to Jerry and I love watching him experience it.  I think it's kinda amazing.  Anyway, this morning we mixed bananas with his rice cereal (the two things he didn't like) and he really liked it.  I think he has already gained a pound since we started the food.  His double chin is getting bigger:)  He's cute.  I'm sure he will be a good eater.

He is still only army crawling and sitting up on his own pretty good.  Lately he has not wanted to take naps for me even though he is tired and gets a little cranky.  He might sleep about 10-20 minutes at the most and then gets his second wind and is ready to play.  He keeps me moving.  At night he is ready for bed between 7 and 8, which I like but he still won't sleep through the night.  Today we ran errands and he slept for an hour in his car seat but this afternoon he was really tired and very cranky (nothing pleased him) so I put him in his crib to try the cry it out method and IT WORKED!!!   It took about 10-15 minutes and he's out.  Knock on wood he doesn't wake up!  We might have to try this more often.  

Oh, and doesn't he look like a big boy in the picture at the top of the blog.  I think he looks so much like Jake and kinda like a little farmer boy (just like daddy was).

Eating Pears

This is Jerry eating pears. Despite the pictures he really likes them. I steamed them a little to help break down the sugars and it made them a little more tart. He does a really good job eating and doesn't spit food out. He likes to use his tongue and always wants to chew on the spoon.

Jerry is army crawling and can go pretty fast when he sees something he wants. Look out cats!

Eating more avacado

So far Jerry's favorite food is avacado. He didn't like the banana and the sweet potato actually makes him gag. I'm not sure if it is more of the texture he doesn't like or if it's the taste. And I mixed it with breast milk but he still gagged.

Sitting Up

Jerry is sitting up really well and loves to play on the floor with his toys.

Jerry's First Food - Rice Cereal

This is Jerry eating rice cereal. We had it pretty runny and so it was kinda messy going in. Jake thought he would try it too but didn't like it much. He said breast milk is really sweet though. I still won't try it.

6 Months Old

Jerry turned 6 months on February 8th. We had pictures taken which turned out really good. I hope to share them soon...we are looking at computers today. We started him on rice cereal and he liked it the first time we gave it to him but then wasn't too sure. We were feeding him by spoon and he was more interested in chewing on the spoon than eating. So the next time I put the rice cereal in a bottle and he ate it up pretty fast. I just don't want to introduce him to a bottle since he has never really taken one. So we stopped that. He also got a little constipated and wasn't sleeping very good so we stopped giving him any food until he was better, which took 3 days :( This morning we gave him avacado which he actually liked despite all of the funny faces he made. We have several pictures and a few videos I hope to share soon.

He is really a mover. He army crawls now everywhere and you have to keep and eye on him cause he moves so fast. He loves to go for the cats but they don't want anything to do with him. He's caught them a few times which makes him so happy, it's cute. He is sitting up better and for longer periods on his own.

Last Thursday was beautiful here and Jake got the motorcycle out and was going to go for a little ride. I had Jerry outside when Jake started it and he thought it was neat. He goes ooh ooh really loud when he hears the motorcycle or when Jake starts his truck. It's too cute. We will have to get a video of it.

Jerry weighs in at 18 lbs and is 27.5 inches long with his head being 17 inches at his 6 month check up with his daddy.

He's a growing boy and will really start growing now that he gets food. We will try to keep you updated as much as possible.

We hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day with the people they love. Jake and I will be spending ours with Jerry at home and Grandma Kalma is coming up to see us for the weekend so that will be fun.

Computer Problems

Sorry for not posting anything lately and unfortunaly there won't be much for awhile since our computer has caught the black screen of death (as they call it). We are going to have to get a new computer and that may take awhile. The good news is that the hard-drive should be okay therefore I should still have all of Jerry's pictures. I will be backing up everything from here on out. I would be devistated if I lost them.

Update on Jerry...he is scooting everywhere now. He doesn't crawl but I think he will be in no time. I have to keep a closer eye on him now. He talks a lot and I think he has the cutest voice. We love to watch him learn news things. He has really good hand coordination. He likes to grab my hair and bite my chin. He won't bite Jakes cause he doesn't like the whiskers.

He is starting to take better naps. He took a 3 hour nap yesterday afternoon which was kinda bad because then he didn't want to go to sleep until after 10:00. He will be 6 months on Sunday. We have pictures taken on Thursday. Jerry will also get to have food for the first time this weekend. I think we will start him out on rice cereal and bananas. I will get a video and pictures and post them when I can.

We had several friends over for Superbowl. We all have kids so it was fun to see them all together. Jerry was very entertained and was very tired by the end of the night and slept really good. I got a lot of good pictures that I hope to post soon too.
