Trip to Austin

The week before Jerry's birthday my mom, Jerry and I went to visit Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Briana in Austin.  They just moved there from Houston and we helped them unpack some and get a little more settled into their new home.  Actually they live in Round Rock which is about 20 minutes from Austin so more like a suburb.  Round Rock was having a festival in it's historic downtown so we went and Jerry got to play in the water fountains.
We went to Lake Travis and had dinner the last night we were there.  I took these pictures of Jerry at the beginning of the evening.  Whenever you tell him to smile for a picture you get this funny little grin so then I told him to make a funny face and then finally I told him not to smile.
This is the view from the restaurant we ate at.  It was amazing and the food was too.  Although, Jerry would disagree.  He got his favorite mac-n-cheese but it came out too fancy for his taste.  Briana and I on the other hand thought it was very yummy.
It was a very rough night for Jerry.  I think the look on the first picture I took of him with that ornery grin was the first sign of what was to come.  After dinner Jerry and I went walking around and he took off from me.  He thought it was funny that every time I went one way to get him he would take off the other direction.  Did I mention that this place was very busy with lots of people around, and to me it seemed like all eyes were on the crazy parent trying to catch her spastic child.  Very Annoying!  I almost asked a stranger to grab him for me.  I was so mad at this kid and he just thought it was funny.  Finally Grandma went after him and he ran from her and right into me.  I don't think I have ever been so mad at him.  I told him that when we got back to Uncle Jeremy's he was going to get a spanking for running from me.  Needless to say our night out was over.  On the drive back we explained more to Jerry why he was in trouble and he asked if his spanking was going to hurt.  The last few that he got didn't hurt and he was sure to let me know.  I told him yes and then he said he wanted Grandma to do it.  When we got to the house he got his punishment (from me) and I felt like crying with him.  I made him tell me exactly why he was in trouble and he knew.
I just hope that this is a lesson learned.
I really hated being that parent.

Other than that little incident we had a great time with Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Briana and Baby Ruben.

Such a beautiful family!
